The Nigerian government’s response to violence is deeply troubling. They are quick to speak out against Xenophobia in South Africa, which is commendable. But why is there utter silence when it comes to the brutal Islamists massacring Christians right in Nigeria? It seems their voice is only loud when defending others abroad, while turning a blind eye to the atrocities happening at home.
Nigerian churches are often vocal when they preach miracles and prosperity in South Africa, yet they remain silent when their own congregations are under attack. Why this double standard? Are the lives of Christians in Nigeria less valuable simply because they belong to different tribes? Such a mindset is unthinkable and unacceptable.
The reality is heartbreaking. Islamists attacking Christians in Nigeria engage in what can only be described as Earth-Scorched Policies. Homes and churches are razed to the ground. Livelihoods are destroyed in an instant. Innocent men, women, children, and even babies are killed in cold blood. Children are executed, mothers are murdered—this is pure cruelty, wickedness in its most heinous form.
We must always remember the plight of Nigerian Christians under siege from these violent extremists. Their suffering is real, their pain profound. I pray that God will send them help from unexpected sources, that justice will prevail, and that peace will someday return to Nigeria.
